- Who is your favorite Black artist and why.
- Maria Magdalena Campos-Pons: She has a profound way of representing the experience of the African Diaspora-- those of us who have chosen to scatter and those of us who have been forcibly scattered across the globe. There is a familiar quality to her installations, as if she is conjuring up something deep in our collective consciousness. I also love how she does not apologize or hide her Yoruba/Santeria/Cuban/African/Diasporic roots.
