Who is your favorite Black artist and why.

Because of his drawing style, the beautiful faces, figures and the messages in his work.
About Me:
I am equally an artist and interior designer.

Over the years I've designed for large and small businesses, High and Low End Residential Interiors. I've created drawings for art, interior design and furniture.

Jocelyn Muncaster, Steve Kladder and I have formed an artist/designer business called Instudio. We all consider the creation of art and interior design equally.

Drawing is the foundation of all of my work. My work on vellum and illustration board has borrowed the materials that I've used to develop interior design ideas.

My Artistic works draw from old African traditions of pattern, repetition, simplicity of form and weaving, to architectural drafting by hand, rendering, graphics, residential design, colors and patterns. Right now my artist and designer instincts have merged more than ever.

Obama 28 (a new series)

Mythic Obama emerged from 3 failed Warhol style portraits of Barack Obama that I was making for myself and Obama's Northern California campaign office.

I finally did reach the Warhol style image, which is the basis of the Obama 28 series.

In the 96 hours after Obama's Democratic Nomination acceptance speech. I became so overwhelmed by its historical meaning that I created 27 completed pieces by working day and night, all with things that I had around the studio.

The series of mixed media pieces reflect not only some of Obama's life story but the historical stories of the man of color living the American dream or nightmare.

I've titled the pieces in simple terms that Obama's name could be added before or after. His iconic image on all the work loudly says Barack Obama. The collage backgrounds are a historic reflection of all men and women with African blood in America.

I've now ventured away from the Obama images but my current work now includes collage.
