- About Me:
- Born in Harlem, New York, raised in South Bronx, Staaten Island, and St.Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands. My mother introduced me to two sisters who would forever change my life and put me on the road to self-discovery and self-recovery; Dr. Cassandra Dunn and Dr. Roseanne Bell, both formerly of the University of the Virgin Islands (UVI). While still in high school, I was participating in various community programs and events organized through UVI. Months before I would begin my first semester there, I became chairman of the Black History Committee, a position I held until the end of my second semester at UVI. During that time I have either invited to speak or interviewed Afrikan educators and organizers from Dr. Joseph Ben Jochannan to Kwame Ture. In 1984 I joined the Zulu Nation in Bronx, New York. In 1986, I joined a work-study group with the All-African Peoples Revolutionary Party (Virgin Islands chapter) and in 1987 work-study with Afrikan Nationalist Science (Brooklyn, New York). It was around this time that I enrolled in Malcolm King College in Harlem (which closed many years ago). Since Malcolm King lacked the extensive forums and activities I wanted to participate in, I chose to attempt to work with Black student organizations at City College of New York (Sons of Africa. As I was not a student there, they could not accommodate my desire to participate), and became familiar with Professor Leonard Jeffries and Professor Smalls and a host of other Afrikan educators and organizers. For ten years I marched and protested with Reverend Al Sharpton , Attorneys Alton Maddox and C. Vernon Mason, before deciding that these activities were a waste of precious money, time and effort. 1998 was my last year of protest marching and I created a newsletter called The Resurrection under the alias Mr. X, and later Nat Turner. Throughout all of these years I would inform and/or educateAfrikans (primarily Afrikan youth) on the importance of learning their culture, history and the mechanics of White racism/power.
