I want to say something of the numbness in my finger tips and toes. How much I just want a warm cup of hot chocolate and a place to thaw out while counting all the gray pigeons I saw congregating on the family fire escape---counting the days til Spring. Maybe playing the dozens, lying on someone's Mama or Daddy to pass the whitest, darkest season with laughter. I want to tell Ma of the live wire I saw above my head---that it too will thaw out. I'm coming on in this house right now for solace...for the cranberry sauce and bloody cutter knives my father left out on the counter. I'm coming on in this house for the game hen whose tender neck spewed blood before we saw it all dressed in lemon pepper and homeade stuffing. I'm coming on in this house to let Ma loose her apron and tell of lifting a fender pregnant. I coming in for a feeling-community in pictures. Coming in for a panoramic view of Black life.
